Alexandra Kalinowski is a composer, orchestrator, and arranger for theater and visual media and a classically trained pianist and vocalist. She played in and wrote original songs for the bands Old Hannah and AK and she can be seen singing on-screen in Sweetwater (2013) and The Anchorite (2016). Notable film scores include The Boxers of Brule (2020 Tribeca Festival Official Selection) and Mooptopia (2022 Tribeca Festival Official Selection). She was a fellow of the 2021 Sundance Composers Lab and a graduate of USC’s Thornton School of Music Screen Scoring Masters program class of 2020, and received the Harnell Scholar Award for Distinguished Film Scoring and the Betty Rose Collaboration Award. She was an awardee of the USC Board of Councilors mentorship program, receiving a year of private instruction from composer Thomas Newman. She is the composer for the new musical Beneath the Bowtie, with lyrics by Tova Katz and book by Katie Lindsay, which was chosen for the 2021/2022 class of the Geffen Playhouse’s Writers’ Room program. She is also an orchestrator and arranger for musical theater.
